Erik J. McCauley is the founder and president of EJM DIGITAL which was launched in January of 2008
EJM DIGITAL's mission is simple:
Providing security, consulting, training, and investigations in a digital world.
Erik has been searching the digital devices of offenders and supervising high risk sex offenders in the community for over 15 years. Erik was the lead investigator for Orange County (CA) Probation's High Tech Forensic Lab and has been a sworn instructor for over 24 years. Erik has spent over a decade working with High Risk Sex Offenders, He has taught over 7000 sworn staff from over 200 agencies, more than any other LEA instructor in the Nation, (See List) how to search the digital devices of offenders using the Field Search Software. Erik has over 25 years of active experience in Law Enforcement, and has been a certified instructor for most of that time.
Erik retired from active law enforcement as a Certified Computer Forensic Analyst assigned to the Adult Sex Crimes Unit . He is well known throughout the state and nation for his expertise in digital investigation and supervision of high risk sex offenders.
Erik has been a presenter/trainer at several national and state events including the California Coalition on Sexual Offending's (CCOSO) Annual Training Conference (on three occasions) and The National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center's (NLECTC) Innovative Technology For Corrections Training Conferences (on two occasions)
Erik was selected as "Deputy Probation Officer Of The Year" for the entire state of California by the California Probation and Parole Correctional Association (CPPCA) and has received a Distinguished Service Award By the California Chief Probation Officer's Association (CPOC) for his work in the digital supervision of high risk sex offenders in our communities.
Erik has directly assisted in the development of state and national protocols and legislation used in the containment of high risk sex offenders and their digital devices, including California SB 619 which gives the Chief Probation Officers the sole discretion on the deployment and use of GPS Technology on supervised sex offenders. Erik has also consulted on a national level with decision makers in the area of internet monitoring of sex offenders, and proven effective strategies being used by community supervision officers.
Erik and his team have been recognized on a local state and federal level for their work with digital investigation and High Risk Offender Supervision in the Community Setting.
EJM DIGITAL staff play an integral role in the development of Sex Offender Containment and management policies, legislation, and treatment and supervision program development nationwide.
Our team of private investigators now consults in the private, public, and enterprise environments to help people secure their electronic devices and information, prevent cyber eavesdropping, and develop custom cyber-security protection plans.
